The First Year Home Group was a support and education group for parents and their internationally adopted young children. Patty Cogen began leading the groups in l997 and ran a final group in 2005. Over two hundred families and their children benefited from the early guidance and information the group provides.
The group provided parents with an opportunity for parents to learn about the development of their children and how to use parenting strategies uniquely designed for children who have had foster and/or orphanage care.
The First Year Home group was also a an opportunity to research the behavior of internationally adopted children first hand immediately upon their arrival home. It provides the foundation for Patty's book, Parenting Your Internationally Adopted Child.
